Don’t Waste This Quarantine

These last two weeks I’ve been blogging more, but other than that, I’ve been doing a whole lot of nothing.  I’ve been watching through Survivor, which has been a lot of fun, but I’ve not really DONE a lot.   But something about the quarantine really really hit me today.

We are living through something that we may never (hopefully) ever live through again.  Most of us have been looking at this as a restriction.  And yes, we are mostly restricted in the places that we can go.

But instead of looking at this as quarantine, we should look at this as an opportunity.

Consequently, don’t waste this quarantine.  But how? How do you not waste this quarantine?

Don't Waste This Quarantine(1) What skill can you learn?

I’ve had a spinning wheel for about three years.  I’ve done a little bit of spinning here and there, but not really took time to really learn how to spin.  I want to learn how to spin during this quarantine.

What can you learn?  Do you want to learn to cook from scratch?  Do you want to learn how to sew or garden or knit or crochet?  Do you need to learn how to clean your gun?  How about learning to play the guitar?

(2) What books should you read?  Don't Waste This Quarantine

Are there topics that you want to learn?  Do you want to learn to compost? Do you want to read an apocalyptic series like One Second After?  What about your kids?  What books could you encourage them to read while they are quarantined?

Don't Waste This Quarantine(3) What Projects Should you Tackle?

During this time, my kids have been gathering rocks from a ravine behind our house.  We’re setting up an herb garden beside our house.  Tomorrow, compost will be delivered to our home tomorrow and we’re going to mix it with our garden soil and then fill in the area that we’re outlining with rocks.  We’re also going to mix that compost with the garden soil left in our raised beds and then when our garden seeds arrive, we’re going to plant our garden.

I’m also using this time to write my second book.  The Intro and chapter 1 are done, but there’s a lot more to do.

What about you?  What projects do you want to tackle during this time?  Do you have a project that you want to use this time to tackle and to make the greatest change in your situation?

What About You?

  1. right now is a good time rest and take it easy. I have been watching Netflix and catching up on my sleep. the one thing I have been doing is shooting my new smith and Wesson, this also lets the neighbors know I’m here and ready, sometimes making some noise can avoid something worse. I also have been watching the news to see if any home invasions or looting starts, if it does I will sleep in the day and stay up at night. I heard on facebook some scumbags are going around with masks and white plastic suits saying they are looking for coronavirus but robbing people once inside. God willing this will pass soon, the best thing is to keep it isolated until it can be removed, the better we do at that the faster it will go away. stay safe

  2. Weaving new placemats, making a baby quilt, watching cooking demos on fbook and Instagram and catching up on ncis. Been in 33 days today, went outside today and planted lettuce and moved tomatoes from my aero garden into pots. Just trying to stay busy so depression does not set in. I think it’s harder when alone!
