Gourmet Food Storage – Amazing Alfredo Sauce with a Twist

What’s your favorite type of pasta?  Is it the all familiar spaghetti?  How about spiral pasta like my Mom uses for pasta salad?  Or maybe you like manicotti?  Or, maybe you know someone who loves fettuccini!  My family’s favorite pasta, however, is whatever kind of pasta I can find covered in Alfredo Sauce.

Last week, I introduced you to an incredible invention called “Magic Mix.”   I also mentioned that you can make all kinds of things with it.  One of the things you can make with it is Alfredo Sauce.

Using the Magic Mix that I made last week, I tried two different variations of Alfredo Sauce.  They were exactly the same, with the one difference.

Alfredo Sauce (using Magic Mix) – Version 1

1/2 C Magic Mix

1/2 C Parmesan Cheese

1 C Water

1/2 tsp garlic powder

Directions: Put your dry ingredients into a saucepan on the stove and mix them with a whisk.  Slowly whisk in your liquid and heat until it almost comes to a boil and thickens.

Alfredo Sauce (Using Magic Mix) – Version 2

1/2 C Magic Mix

1/2 C Parmesan Cheese

1 C Milk (I used Almond Milk)

1/2 tsp garlic powder

Directions: Put your dry ingredients into a saucepan on the stove and mix them with a whisk.  Slowly whisk in your liquid and heat until it almost comes to a boil and thickens.

So In less than 2 minutes because I used Magic Mix, I made not just one but two batches of Alfredo Sauce.

But because I’m me, I needed to get an opinion on both batches, so I found myself two volunteers.

They decided that one of these batches tasted better than the other.  Can you guess which?  Yea, you probably can.  It was the Almond Milk.

Notes on Magic Mix Alfredo Sauce:

I wanted to mention a couple of thoughts that I had on everything.  Bear with me, they all tie together in the end.

1.) Almond Milk isn’t a LONG-term solution.  Yea, it was so much yummier than the batch made with water.  Yes, there is tetra packed almond milk.  I can get it at Costco.  Even that isn’t a long-term solution though.

2.) Green Bottle Parmesan cheese isn’t a long-term solution either.  The parmesan cheese I used had definitely seen newer days.  The average life of a can of parmesan is 9-12 months.

3.)  Thrive Life has freeze-dried parmesan cheese!  Okay, so admittedly after I made both batches of this and the one turned out amazing, I thought about the fact that you can use parmesan long-term and I went to Thrive Life since I use a LOT of their products.  Guess what I found?  YES!  They made a grated parmesan cheese.  You could either melt the cheese as you heated it or use a blender to pulverize the cheese so it’s more like the green can.

4.)  You can make yummy Alfredo sauce using water.  You just need to add 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/4 tsp pepper and change the garlic powder to 1 tsp.

So the Long-term food storage recipe for Magic Mix Alfredo Sauce is:

Magic Mix Alfredo Sauce – Long-Term Storage Recipe

1/2 C Magic Mix

1/2 C Parmesan Cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

Directions: Put your dry ingredients into a saucepan on the stove and mix them with a whisk.  Slowly whisk in your liquid and heat until it almost comes to a boil and thickens.

If you made up some magic mix this past week, give this a try and let me know what your opinion of it is.  What does your family think of it?
